User Journey Map

PROBLEM CONTEXT

What I do for work has always been an extension of who I am…

Which makes the task of packaging myself for professional scrutiny mildly anxiety-inducing. Naturally, I’m an accomplished over-thinker, so I decided to delegate my identity crisis.

Armed with my user research toolkit, I pestered some brave souls for honest feedback and cobbled together the findings here — using the lowest possible budget and strictly time-boxed.

HMW

How might I authentically reflect my skills and personality — on a limited budget and squeezed into the scraps of time I actually have?

RESEARCH PLAN

I like to think I’m pretty self-aware (all that over-thinking) but to gain more insight from a work context, I conducted the following:

1.

Survey to my fellow designers to rate my skills-ability

2.

Site visit to my home office

Including a juicy tell-all from my husband about my being task orientated

3.

Interviews with current colleagues

REFLECTION

To sum up my skillset in three snappy takeaways…

1.

I’m a keen learner: I ask questions, embrace feedback and often have a side project on the go to expand my knowledge.

2.

My sweet spot is where craft, insight and strategy intersect. I’m also just as good at talking about the work as I am at doing it.

3.

I’m not confined by job spec: I can wear multiple hats to design solutions that aren’t just limited to visuals.

COLLEAGUE INSIGHT

Always aiming for a high standard while being pragmatic.
A great yarn.
